Starting Again

One of the best things about the sometimes repetitive nature of daily life is that everyday brings a new opportunity to start again. Sure, we carry with us the results of all the decisions that we’ve made until now. Yes, our life circumstances can start to feel more restricted as we take on more responsibilities on both home and work fronts. But if we have learned anything from the practices that we cultivate… meditation, becoming present, managing our nervous systems, putting our story aside to connect with the magnificent power of this moment … we know that there is space for us to start again.

What keeps us in our boxes are all the thoughts, reminders, and reflections from others, that try to tell us who we are. When we listen and believe what bangs around in our heads all the time - especially the criticism, worry, and fear - we are destined to continue the story that we’re telling ourselves. But if we take the time to let go … even just for a moment … we create cracks in the walls around us where new light can shine through.

Everyday presents an opportunity to restart something that we’ve neglected. There’s a new day to insert a few moments of practice - meditation, creative expression, attention to what’s bubbling up inside of us. Even just for a few moments to remember something that we might not yet consciously know about ourselves.

Beneath the weight of the world we carry a spark of creativity. You know that feeling. The dawn of a new day. The joy of being alive without the restriction of layers and layers of responsibility. There’s a spark within that yearns for freedom, just as you do. I’d say it is you.

Maybe today is the day to start again. Maybe today is the day to reconnect with yourself as an unrestricted expression of life. Maybe today there is a moment to take a break, take a breath, and allow the light to come through and remind you of who you are.

What will you do today?
